A research paper by a group led by Project Researcher Peng Helinyi, Associate Professor Yuuki Nishiyama, and Professor Kaoru Sezaki has been published in Proceedings of the ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies (ACM IMWUT), a leading journal in the field of ubiquitous computing.

The paper is titled “AEDHunter: Investigating AED Retrieval in the Real World via Gamified Mobile Interaction and Sensing.”

In this study, the researchers developed AEDHunter, a gamified mobile application that enables users to engage in enjoyable and repeated training for locating automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Through repeated practice using the application, participants were able to reduce the time required to reach AED locations and reported increased confidence in locating AEDs. These results suggest that gamified applications can effectively enhance public preparedness and improve emergency response capabilities.

This research will be presented at UbiComp 2026 (the ACM International Joint Conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing), which will be held in Shanghai, China, from October 13 to 15, 2026.

Proceedings of the ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies(ACM IMWUT)に、彭何林訳特任研究員や西山勇毅准教授、瀬崎薫教授らの研究グループの論文「AEDHunter: Investigating AED Retrieval in the Real World via Gamified Mobile Interaction and Sensing」が掲載されました。

UbiComp 2026(ACM International Joint Conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing)
