Dr. Yasuyuki Hamura joined our center as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) on April 1. Dr. Hamura holds a PhD in Economics from the Graduate School of Economics, the University of Tokyo, and has previously served as a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Postdoctoral Fellow (PD) and an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at the Graduate School of Economics, Kyoto University. His research field is statistics.
[Message from Dr. Hamura]
My name is Hamura, and I have recently joined the Division of Spatial Socio-Economic Research. I have previously conducted research in statistics. In particular, I have focused on developing analytical methods for various types of data within the framework of Bayesian statistics, investigating their theoretical and numerical properties, and developing computational techniques for efficient analysis. Through this work, I have encountered spatial social data that includes outliers and exhibits localized, rapid changes, and I have come to understand the potential applications of my research, which began as a theoretical interest, to spatial data analysis. I will strive to achieve even greater research results in the future. I will consider methods for analyzing spatial phenomena, utilizing the skills I have acquired. I look forward to working with you all.

4月1日付で、羽村靖之先生が当センターに講師として着任されました。羽村先生は東京大学大学院経済学研究科にて博士号（経済学）を取得後、日本学術振興会特別研究員(PD)、京都大学経済学研究科講師を務められました。研究分野は統計学です。
【羽村先生より】
このたび空間社会経済研究部門に着任いたしました羽村と申します。これまで統計学の研究を行ってきました。特に最近はベイズ統計学の枠組みで、様々な種類のデータについて、解析手法を構成し、その理論的・数値的な性質を調べ、また解析を効率的に行うための計算技術を開発してきました。この中で、異常値を含むような／局所的に急激に変化するような空間的な社会データに接することや、理論的な興味から始めた研究の空間データ解析への応用可能性を知ることがありました。これから、これまで以上の研究成果をあげられるように、努めてまいります。空間現象の分析の手法について、身につけた技術を活かしつつ考えます。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
