On October 28, we hosted the public symposium “Urban AI Symposium” at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering. The event opened with an MoU signing ceremony between NYU Tandon and our Center, followed by opening remarks from Professor Maurizio Porfiri, Director of the Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP), and a keynote lecture by Professor Yoshihide Sekimoto, Director of our Center.
Six researchers, including Assistant Professor Takahiro Yabe from NYU, delivered presentations, along with speakers from municipal agencies, industry, and other universities. The symposium featured active discussions on the latest research trends and practical case studies at the intersection of cities and AI. From our Center, Professor Yoshihide Sekimoto, Associate Professor Yuuki Nishiyama, and Assistant Professor (Lecturer) Takahiro Yoshida introduced their research outcomes. More than 100 participants joined the event.
In the evening of the same day, a networking event titled “Let’s Talk About Urban × AI: Business and Research at UTokyoNY” was held at the University of Tokyo New York Office. Following introductions of the activities of CUSP and our Center, participants—including local residents and professionals—exchanged ideas on the potential applications of urban data and AI technologies, creating an opportunity for connecting research with society.

10月28日、ニューヨーク大学工学部にて、公開シンポジウム「Urban AI Symposium」を開催しました。冒頭では、同学部と当センターとのMoU調印式が執り行われ、続いてCenter for Urban Science + Progress（CUSP）のセンター長のMaurizio Porfiri教授による開会あいさつ、当センターの関本義秀センター長・教授の基調講演が行われました。
シンポジウムには、ニューヨーク大学の矢部貴大助教授をはじめとする6名の研究者が登壇したほか、官公庁や産業界、他大学からの参加者による発表もあり、都市とAIをめぐる最新の研究動向や実践事例について活発な議論が交わされました。当センターからは関本義秀教授、西山勇毅准教授、吉田崇紘講師が研究成果を紹介し、会場には100名を超える参加者が集まりました。
同日夜には、東京大学ニューヨークオフィスにて交流イベント「都市×AIのビジネス/研究を語ろう at UTokyoNY」を開催し、CUSPおよびCSISの活動紹介に続き、都市データやAI技術の応用可能性について、近隣の一般参加者や関係者と意見交換を行い、研究と社会を繋ぐネットワーキングの場となりました。
