Dr. Abel Táiti Konno Pinheiro joined our center as an Assistant Professor on December 1. After receiving his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Engineering at Kobe University, he worked as a researcher and assistant professor. In his previous position, he served as a Project Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo. His research focuses on architectural and urban disaster risk reduction.

[Message from Dr. Abel]

It is a great honor to join the Center for Spatial Information Science as an Assistant Professor. My research has focused on evacuation safety, welfare disaster prevention, andurban conflagration. Specifically, I have worked on disaster risk assessment and proposing disaster countermeasures using drone surveying, vital sensing, and geospatial information science. My recent efforts also include improving tsunami evacuation safety for vulnerable populations, supported by exercise physiology principles. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to apply research findings in real disaster scenarios, enhancing my practical experience. More recently, I have been involved in developing a crowd management system based on the digital twin platform using ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, contributing to safer and more comfortable spatial designs. Leveraging these experiences, I am committed to advancing the initiatives of the Joint Usage and Research platform while contributing to the global development of the center. I look forward to collaborating with researchers within and beyond the University to enhance community resilience and address pressing social challenges. Thank you for your support.
